I really enjoyed this book!!! The message of the book is that God (no matter what God you believe in) is all around you and wants you to succeed. The only person preventing you from fulfilling your potential is you. The young shepherd meets many people on his journey and learns to read the omens. My favorite quote from the book would be "That's what alchemists do. They show that, when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too." I think this is a good way to think about life and a great book to kick off 2011!!!

Book Review- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
I picked up The Alchemist at a used book store at the beginning of January. The Alchemist is about a young shepherd boy from Spain who sets out on a journey to Egypt to discover treasure and his personal legend. I really enjoyed this book!!! The message of the book is that God (no matter what God you believe in) is all around you and wants you to succeed. The only person preventing you from fulfilling your potential is you.
